Our Aina, Our Kuleana

For over four decades, Pua Lani Landscape Design has worked hands-on in the soil, streams, and slopes of Windward Oahu. That kind of longevity teaches you something: the aina isn't a backdrop for our work, it's a partner in it. Every hardscape we build, every plant we select, and every garden we shape is done with an understanding that we're borrowing this land from the generations who will come after us. Kuleana isn't just a value we mention, it's a responsibility we carry onto every job site, every single day.

That responsibility shows up in practical ways. We're careful about what we bring onto a property and what we take between them, cleaning equipment and inspecting materials to keep invasive species and pests from spreading between sites. We favor native and drought-tolerant plantings that belong in this ecosystem rather than fight against it, and we design landscapes that work with Oahu's watersheds instead of straining them. Protecting the aina has never been a separate initiative for us. It's simply how we've always done business, and how we'll continue to do it for the next 45 years and beyond.
